Sri Lanka Energy Policy
National Energy Policy and Strategies was prepared by a pannel of experts headed by Mr.W.B. Dissanayake (Addl. Secretary (Power & Energy).

The draft document was presented to all stakeholders on 5th April 2006 and was improved in the consultative session chaired by Dr.P.N.Fernando. The draft document was published in all three languages on 31st July 2006 inviting public comments. The final document which incorporated public concerns was taken up by the Cabinet of Ministers on 25th October 2006 and was referred to the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Power & Energy. The Consultative Committee perused the policy document on 21st June 2007 and the Energy Policy was finally presented to the Parliament on 19th February 2008 and is now fully effective.
