The Inception
Immediate aftermath of the second oil shock of the mid 1980s
offered the necessary policy environment to create the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority by enactment of Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority
Act No 2 of 1985. This organization operating, within the
Ministry of Power & Energy in the earliest days had many
barriers to overcome and quite a number of obstacles to pass
and managed finally to blossom into a fully fledged organization
during the last decade. The Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority managed
to remain relevant to the energy sector by engaging all stakeholders
in a meaningful manner. The organization managed to continuously
increase the volume of transaction handled during the last
5 years providing value to all stakeholders. These activities
highlighted the necessity of an empowered institution to guide
the nation towards a sustainable energy future.
