Coherent R&D programmes for renewable energies are key elements in designing strategies, not only for renewable energies but also for carbon mitigation. Enhancing the dialogue between science and policy is essential to achieve a consistent approach which takes into account the maturity of the different renewable energy technologies.

The research and development in energy aspects are not new to Sri Lanka. Research community lead by the technical universities includes a large number of public and private entities engaging in some kind of energy research. Our KM programme facilitate energy research by connecting networks of entities in similar research objectives and also providing a platform for dialogue in the form of a national energy symposium.
